A couple weeks ago we decided that the smartest thing for us to do would be to skip my cousin Jamie's wedding. We were both disappointed, but with gas prices going up and up and the fact that I'd have to sit through a 9 hour car ride twice, we didn't think it was a good idea. Then last Sunday at Nathan's softball game our friends Nate & Andrea invited us to their wedding. Even though it was last minute they said they wanted us there. We've become friends with Nate & Andrea through church and softball and are really excited about getting to know them better. They, for some reason, think we're "normal" (little do they know) and are excited to have new friends too. So this past Saturday we got all dressed up and went down to Beaver, PA for the wedding and reception. We had a wonderful time and it was so nice to get dressed up and just go out. Many of you probably know that we don't go out much, and reserve going out to dinner, movies, and such, for special occassions. Shoot, our anniversary tradition now is dinner and a movie, lets see if that happens this year!
We also took a quick belly shot right after we got home ( I was exhausted if you can't tell from the expression on my face). On Thursday we'll be 30 weeks, so two days shy. I had a doctor's appointment this morning and everything still looks good. I'm measuring at 30cm, which is perfect for 30 weeks and they said I probably won't go past 35 all together. My weight is good, even though they are weighing me about 5 lbs heavier than what I've calculated. (I like keeping my own record at home where I can make sure my clothing is exactly the same every week!) And baby Ava's heart rate is holding strong at 150. She has been quite active and aggressive lately, kicking, punching, and stretching my sides until sometimes they hurt. But I'm not going to complain, she is healthy and hopefully happy in there.
We'll keep you updated and get some pictures of the house up soon. We're still in the process of getting things organized.
a side note: I've decided there should be a book or something that tells everyone what they shouldn't say to a pregnant woman. I know I've been guilty of this myself and I apologize, but seriously, no pregnant woman wants to hear "you're getting so big" or "you're huge" no matter if they are 3 months or 9 months and ready to pop. I've gotten quite a few of these comments lately, and thankfully my hormones aren't so crazy that I haven't reached out and slapped these people. (did I just say that?) And also I have a wonderful husband who, even if he thinks I'm huge, tells me I'm not and that I'm gaining weight right on schedule. He is such an encouragement. I did get an email the other day that had snappy come back lines for people who say these things, and although they were things you'd really want to say, they weren't too Christian-like if you know what I mean. I think one of my favorite replys was "well, I'm going to drop about 15 lbs in one day, how about you?" hehe...
Have a happy 4th of July!

What a pretty dress! You look great.
Definitely know what you mean about people who don't think before they speak. Nobody has commented on my size yet (nothing to see) but some people have asked, "Were you trying to have a baby?"
And it's like...um...what in the world does it matter?
I'd disagree. I actually WANTED people to tell me I was getting bigger. I was underweight pre-pregnancy, and for the first 20 weeks, hadn't gained much at all, so I constantly was being told I was too small, gonna lose the baby, etc.. Even though the ultrasounds said he was large to date! SO, in the end, I started gaining huge amounts of weight all at once, and ultimately gained 52 pounds. (Kept 30 of it post-pregnancy, which was fine by me). And, James was an 8 lb. baby.
But yeah, I hate the criticism of every action, pregnant or as a new mom. You'll get it. But you can't let it get you down like I did/still do occasionally. People have too much nerve, and they all forget that with kids, it's all trial and error, mistakes combined with success, every time.
Hi. I found your blog through Cole Bozic's blog. I went to high school with your husband, although then my last name was Toler. I just wanted to say that I couldn't agree MORE about rude people and their rude mouths to pregnant women. Do they think we want to hear "oh, you're ready to pop!" when in fact you have 2 months left. In any event, congratulations to you and Nathan and may God bless you with a healthy Ava!
